When you take a motorcycle license course, be aware that there are three different categories:

  • Category A License (large category)
  • Category A2 License (medium category)
  • Category A1 License (small category) – not currently offered
  • Your age determines which motorcycle license you can obtain. You can start Category A1 at 18 years old, Category A2 at 20 years old, and Category A (large motorcycle license) at 24 years old.

The rules for motorcycle licenses are continually updated. You can always find the latest rules in the driving license regulations. The most recent Driving License Regulations are from October 1, 2021. In short, you can obtain a motorcycle license as early as 18 years old. At 24 years old, there are no longer any restrictions regarding age, experience, and motorcycle type.
